I am now an award-winning homebrewer! (Well, we are. Claire and I work together!)
Session Shaker Pale Ale finished 3rd out of 16 beers entered into the Knights of Bruklyn competition at Union Hall in Park Slope.
It was a great event and I am proud to be a winner!
The prize: A $25 gift certificate to Bierkraft. Not too shabby.

That’s a good lookin’ carboy if you ask me!
Hopefully will be ready in time for the homebrew competition: Session Shaker Pale Ale — a hoppy, relatively low ABV pale ale.

Here I am drinking my latest brew: The Rip Off Pale Ale. It’s only been aging a week, so it still has some time to go, but it already tastes pretty damn good if I don’t say so myself. Tons of citrus and grapefruit and a monster hop bite without any of the malty heaviness of an IPA.
You can check out my recipe here. I’ll definitely tweak it next time around, but for a first try I am very pleased.

I had to wait on these Simcoe hops for awhile. But now that they are here, it’s brewing time!
Going to try as best we can to rip-off my favorite beer, Yards Philadelphia Pale Ale. A loose approximation of the recipe we’ve created can be found at Hopville.
Will try to post some photos of the actual brewing process.
I’ll trim my fingernails after we’re done brewing, I swear.
